In Certified VS. Qualified you will see a chapter on the Leg Press. The leg press is a fixed machine that only moves in one plane of motion. It has some benefits if done correctly. The manufacture of a specific machine has everything do with the risk benefit ratio. I would rather see you stay with a free motion squat (What we do in real life) then to be dictated in a sled like, hack, or smith type machine.
