The reasoning behind the ground base is strictly hypertrophy. If the goal is to put more production or force into a region we must become a fixator. The term is defined as “Creating a base or platform to exert force as we shorten the distance between exit and entry. The load in this exercise stays between the hands and the fixed shoulder blades on the ground. The positioning is critical to the result. If the goal was basic overall function / conditioning we would have done this standing or seated with the load straight out in front of us. We will show that in this lesson section.
